M.I.A. Food Exhibition Spotlights Italian Wines and Lugana DOC
The 29th edition of M.I.A., the International Food Exhibition, will take place from February 6 to 10 at the Rimini fairgrounds.
An event of particular importance for the entire food sector, which the Consorzio Tutela Lugana DOC, through its president avv. Francesco Ghiraldi, did not want to miss.
The experience of the previous edition (’98) was positive, concluding with over 61,000 visitors, 2,217 of whom were international.
The entire exhibition area spanned over 40,000 square meters, with 800 exhibitors participating.
Wine Sector and New Initiatives
In conjunction with the upcoming edition and respecting the large number of restaurateurs (26% of the previous edition), keen to qualify and enrich their wine lists, M.I.A. has dedicated space to the wine sector with the establishment of the brand Vini Top.
This essentially marks the first Italian wines fair for the hospitality industry, starting from Pavilion F and extending across the entire Salone to give maximum prominence to this sector, which features 200 wineries.
The Consorzio Tutela Lugana DOC fits seamlessly into this context, representing the entire production community of its members.
This presence is also due, above all, to the interest of the Camera di Commercio di Verona, which is focused on increasing the value of this great product from the Gardesana region, covering areas in both Veneto and Lombardy.
Finally, this initiative has attracted the distinguished and legendary Guida Rossa Michelin, which included Lugana in its national map of the best Italian wines.
Collateral Events and International Participation
Among the numerous collateral events organized to support the wine sector, notable is the Oscar Berebene 1999 on Monday, February 8 at 6:00 pm, featuring tastings of awarded wines. This event is organized by the magazine Gambero Rosso in collaboration with A.I.S., the Italian Sommelier Association.
Finally, also noteworthy is the participation of qualified foreign operators, facilitated by the ICE (Institute for External Commerce), chosen based on their specific interest in importing Italian wines.
