Tignale Sewage System Upgrade Project with 2.5B Euro Investment

The planned expenditure under the agreement between the Provincia di Brescia and the Azienda Speciale Consorzio Garda Uno amounts to 2.5 billion euros. This budget covers the first phase of the project regarding the complete sewage collector system of the town of Tignale. The financing for this intervention is supported by the Province itself, while Garda Uno is responsible for the design and construction. This project is necessary to provide a definitive solution to the current situation of the sewage and purification system, which faces significant operational challenges due to multiple factors affecting the entire territory of the municipality.

Demographic Statistics and Surface Area

The resident population is estimated at 1,224 inhabitants, with an additional 100 stable non-resident residents, and a fluctuating population with a nightly stay of 4,900 people. An additional 329 equivalent inhabitants of industrial origin are included, for a total population of 6,553 inhabitants.

The total surface area of the municipality of Tignale, situated at 555 meters above sea level, is 48.42 km². Out of this, 0.43 km² is urbanized area served by public sewage, which accounts for 74% of the settled population.

Project Details and Components

The project envisions the removal of the small treatment plants currently existing in the various hamlets, replacing them with a single collector that serves all the fractions, including the main town center. The collected wastewater will be conveyed to the main consortium collector in Gargnano, and from there to the Peschiera treatment plant.

The entire project has a forecasted total cost of 5,700,000,000 euros, of which the first phase is part. Three pumping stations will be built at Campogrande, Prabione, and Oldesio, along with flood spillways and storage tanks.

Over 14,385 meters of cast iron pipes with diameters ranging from 250 mm to 300 mm will be used for this operation.

Environmental Impact and Infrastructure Works

Special care has been taken regarding environmental impact, which will not be disturbed, as the facilities are underground and involve existing structures and infrastructure.

In the first phase, approximately 6,400 meters of pipelines will be installed, separating black water and gray water. Collection systems for the Tignale hamlets will be completed up to the connection with the Piovere hamlet, along with the construction of overflow spillways and three pumping stations.
