Regional Politician Raises Alarm Over Malcesine Hospital Project Delays
Endless. Once again, Roberto Buttura, regional councilor of the Democratic Socialists, raises another justified alarm about the future of the hospital in the upper lake area.
In an inquiry submitted to the Council at Palazzo Ferro Fini in Venice (followed by another inquiry from the directors Gabanizza and Vanni), the left-wing representative requests clarification on the failure to present the “regional management experimentation” project related to the Malcesine facility to the V Health Commission.
This is despite more than five months having passed since the deadline. It should be recalled that last March, after endless discussions and controversies, the Council decided to transform the orthopedic rehabilitative specialized institute into a testing site.
Current situation and concerns
“With this act,” writes Buttura, “the hospital is no longer part of the regional hospital network, as it was destined for functions that should have been specified by July 31, 1999. Yet, several months have passed since the scheduled date, and to this day, no project has been submitted to the V commission.”
There is therefore a well-founded fear that, with the end of the legislature (which formally closes on March 1, 2000—forty-five days before the elections scheduled for April 16), it will not be possible to make any decisions regarding the future of the hospital.
