No Mines Recovered from Lake Garda Waters Since April 2022
Still nothing. No bombs have been recovered from the waters of Lake Garda since April 16 of last year. Or at least, no one has reported it from military sources. Massimo Wilde, a senator from the Lega Nord, submitted a parliamentary inquiry on the 20th of that same month to request clarification from the government. “I’m still waiting for an answer,” Wilde stated a few days ago, “It’s really depressing.”
The senator, who lives in Sirmione, confirmed that just off the Sirmione lakeshore, there are warning buoys with small flags— the only sign that the area is still under surveillance. “I even saw myself some time ago a search team going out on the lake, but so far I haven’t received any news.” So, still nothing
It is evident, at this point, after months of underwater surveys, first off Maderno, then in Garda, and finally in Sirmione, that the bombs dropped by an F-15 fighter jet returning from Kosovo will, very likely, add to the arsenal of underwater weaponry on the lakebed, just as many others have enriched those of the Adriatic Sea.
