Ctg M. Baldo Environmental Group Announces 2000 Activities and Elections
Tonight, at the ex Pretura at 8:30 PM, the annual members’ meeting of the group Ctg culturali e ambientali animatori M. Baldo will be held. The group operates with around one hundred members in the Baldo area and the inland Garda zone.
Objectives and activities of the group
The assembly will be tasked with discussing and approving the activity program and the financial statements, as well as electing the new steering committee for 2000.
“Since its inception 15 years ago, the group has always sought to promote the knowledge and study of the environment and local traditions, encouraging cultural, tourism, and volunteer activities, and committing itself to the protection of the historical-artistic and natural heritage of the Garda inland area,” explains vice president Vinicio Pradella.
Publications and recognitions
“The association is responsible for producing the cultural magazine ‘Il Baldo’, now in its eleventh issue this year, as well as a series of volumes about local municipalities: Affi, Costermano, Cavaion, Pastrengo, and in preparation for next spring, Caprino.”
The Ctg M. Baldo is also the promoter of the “Giardino d’Europa” award, given annually to individuals and groups who highlight the value of the Veronese mountains.
Environmental education courses and activities
For ten years now, in collaboration with the Comunità Montana del Baldo, a series of courses on local knowledge and activities such as hiking and environmental education have been organized within the framework of the Università Ambiente M. Baldo initiative.
Educational visits and heritage protection
“Another significant activity is the service of educational visits for school groups: the cultural and environmental animators of the Ctg have identified about thirty routes in the Baldo-Garda area, from the lake to the mountain pastures, guiding schools and organizing environmental education stays or visits to the Botanical Garden of Novezzina,” concludes Pradella.
“The latest activities, after conducting a census of the small chapels in the Baldo-Garda area, include cataloging the fountains, washhouses, and wells—monumental elements of the zone—and publishing two volumes on the most beautiful chapels of the Baldo.”
