Garda Uno Consortium to Meet on Feb 7 for Budget, Transformation, and Leadership

It will meet next Monday, February 7th, at 6:00 PM, at the headquarters on via Chiusure in Portese, the General Assembly of the Garda Uno Consortium convened by Vice President and Mayor of Moniga Ermanno Pollini.

The agenda includes particularly important and interesting topics, starting with the approval of the Three-Year Forecasting and Planning Report, the Three-Year Budget 2000-2001-2002, and the Budget Forecast for 2000. The preliminary estimate for the current year amounts to 25 billion and 167 million lire, a figure that alone confirms the scale of the consortium’s activities.

Transformation of the company and new projects

A matter of undeniable and significant importance will be the transformation of the Special Company Garda Uno Consortium into a S.p.A.. Another point concerns the establishment of companies for the treatment of organic waste fractions with INTDEPCAST srl in Castiglione delle Stiviere and T.E.A. in Mantua.

Certainly, during the explanatory report, particular emphasis will be placed on the necessity for the municipalities of Garda in Brescia that have not yet entrusted the provision of local public services of local interest and industrial importance (especially those related to the integrated water cycle: aqueducts and sewers) to accelerate the deliberative process, as the current regulatory framework (Galli law, Merloni “third” law) excludes municipalities from directly managing these services.

The upcoming and imminent “Collegato” to the Financial Law foresees their outsourcing, resulting in the loss of the municipalities’ ability to monitor and decide on tariffs or the quality of services. However, this possibility continues to exist when services are entrusted to the Specialized Company, in which the municipalities participate through their mayors.

Joint projects and election of the new president

During the meeting, a report will also be presented regarding the establishment, together with Azienda Gardesana Servizi and other private entities, of a consortium of electricity consumers aimed at obtaining more advantageous supply conditions.

The last point on the agenda is the election of the new Assembly President, following the early dissolution of the Municipal Council of Lonato and the subsequent resignation of Mayor Manlio Mantovani.
