Rivana Tribunal Closure Sparks Local Appeals and Concerns

The employees of the former Pretura Rivana, now a peripheral office of the Tribunal of Rovereto, have begun counting the days. Not many remain until June 2nd, an important date not only for them but for the city.

On the day commemorating the birth of the Italian Republic, Rivana’s community will also lose its most renowned judicial office, the Tribunal headquarters. For those who have worked for many years at the Pretura, it means a forced move to Rovereto.

For the residents of Rivana, it means turning to the main court in Laghetti for all legal matters, including the simplest cases previously handled by the Pretura offices. There is a possibility that the president of the Tribunal of Rovereto, the Rivana Ruggero Polito, might request a further extension for the transfer from the Ministry, citing the impossibility of securing the necessary spaces at the new Rovereto premises.

Possibility of Extension and Employees’ Requests

However, this would only be another delay. The employees of the former Pretura are asking for more, and they express this through an emotional letter sent to the mayors of the entire Basso Sarca area and other relevant authorities.

“In order to involve public opinion,” they write, “the staff of the Tribunal of Rovereto, a peripheral branch of Riva del Garda, along with the notification and enforcement office based at the same location, draw attention to the issue concerning the oppression of the offices of the former Pretura in the city.”

As of June 2nd, they emphasize, these offices will be permanently closed and consolidated with the Tribunal in Rovereto. This will inevitably cause difficulties and inconveniences for users (citizens, staff of various offices, and lawyers).

We have waited for about two years, trusting in the genuine interest of all municipal administrations within the district. However, this interest has been lacking. Therefore, an appeal is made to the competent authorities, given the inertia demonstrated so far, for immediate intervention to request the restoration of the Riva District Office, also considering the significant workload handled by this branch compared to the remaining sections open in the Province of Trento.”.
