Rivana Students Compete on Marine Topics for Prizes Up to 1 Million Lire
The idea is good. Participation is assured. The prize pool is quite substantial, especially considering that the winner will be around thirteen years old.
Details of the Competition
“The sea, its resources, and its relationship with man” is the theme that students in the third year of middle school from Rivana will have to write about to participate in the contest organized by the Rivana section of the Associazione Nazionale Marinai d’Italia, named after Bruno Miori (pictured here is the monument dedicated to the fallen sailors along the lakeside).
A prize of one million lire will go to the first-place winner, with half a million for five other outstanding entries. The initiative — as explained by Arrigo Perini, president of the Rivana sailors — aims to enrich students’ educational development through a better understanding of the sea in all its aspects and its unlimited resources.
A noble goal, especially since the contest targets young people who, although born among the Trentino mountains, have limited familiarity with the sea — apart from holidays. The jury evaluating the entries will include two language teachers.
The award ceremony is scheduled for May 5. For more information, call 0464/521195.
