New Elderly Day Centers in Rivoltella and Desenzano Expand City Facilities
A brand new day center for the elderly in Rivoltella and a completely renovated one for those in the historic center. The facilities for pensioners, which in the Garda capital surpass 25% of the population, are once again a source of pride for the city.
In fact, this attention is not recent, considering that the first social center was opened at least fifteen years ago. Today, however, the facilities have multiplied and have been moved closer to the citizens. The one in the historic center has been relocated to the municipal-owned building on via Annunciata, which once housed the nursery school.
Investments and details of the facilities
Overall, the Administration has invested nearly 5 billion euros in the last two years to create or upgrade the two day centers. In Rivoltella, this occupies the rooms of the farmhouse purchased from the local parish. The renovation works were carried out by Garda Costruzioni and took just under two years, concluding in mid-May of last year.
The day center has been operational for a few weeks, offering a conference room, meeting rooms, 65 sqm rooms, a recreational activity hall, services, a medical office, an administrative office, a second meeting and conference room, and extensive service blocks, along with a 50 sqm loggia and a caretaker’s residence. Outside, the area has been organized to include covered bocce fields.
The intervention required an investment of 1,675 million euros, which further increased with the purchase of furnishings. The center is already operational. “It will be inaugurated on Sunday, April 30,” explains social services councilor Valentino Marostica.
The program includes a performance by the folk band “Cuori ben nati” at 10 a.m., followed by speeches from officials and a reception. The folk band will perform again in the afternoon.
Restoration of the historic center of Desenzano
But Desenzano also anticipates celebrating the completion of the modernization works of the social center on via Annunciata. These interventions were designed, awarded, and initiated by the Rocca Administration. The building is spread over three floors and has been entirely renovated.
The ground floor houses the dining hall, which can accommodate over 100 people, as well as an area for the distribution of home meals. The center features a multipurpose room, services, a gym with changing rooms and showers.
Numerous halls and meeting rooms, a library, offices, services, an information zone, the caretaker’s residence, as well as ironing and laundry rooms. Outside, two bocce courts and areas designated for various games have been created.
As mentioned, the center can now be considered fully completed and operational. It also includes a dance hall located on the third floor. The entire structure has been renovated with an investment close to 3 billion euros; it will be inaugurated on May 7 and will be dedicated to Dr. Achille Baronio.
Doctor in Desenzano for many decades, particularly active in elderly care and volunteering. The ceremony will feature a performance by the town band at 10:30 a.m., speeches by the authorities, and the dedication ceremony with a recounting of Dr. Baronio’s legacy. The event will be followed by a Holy Mass. The celebration will continue throughout the day.
