Monte Baldo Water Supply Upgrade Aims for €550M Enhancement

Half a billion euros to supply water to the mountain huts on Monte Baldo. The Community Mountain of Baldo council has approved the preliminary project for the replacement and extension of approximately six kilometers of pipelines on Monte Baldo.

An intervention affecting the Municipalities of Caprino, Ferrara di Monte Baldo, San Zeno di Montagna and Brenzone. Ten mountain huts will, in the end, have access to drinking water: Cola Lunga, Zilion, Valdabin Sotto and Sopra, Monteselli La Pra, Basiana, Valfredda di Centro, Valfredda Crocetta, Colonei di Caprino, and Colonei di Pesina.

Details of the intervention

The project, developed by technicians from the ente Montebaldo, involves laying approximately 4,000 meters of new pipelines and replacing another two kilometers of pipes that have become worn out over time. In some cases, the work will also allow the opening of new access roads to some of the mountain huts.

The total cost of the work is 550 million euros, some of which are expected to be financed through a regional contribution. Once completed, the intervention will completely change the water distribution system in part of the mountain huts managed by the Community Mountain.

The goal is to make the mountain environment more livable and to enable, subsequently, the hygienic-sanitary upgrade of the huts: an essential requirement for local production of traditional products, particularly Monte Veronese cheese, and also partly addressing the requests made by the mountain hut operators themselves.
