Valtenesi Opens Doors to Wine and Culture During Regional Event

Open doors next weekend in “courtyards and farmhouses”: for Valtenesi, this means wineries and farm-restaurant businesses, embodying the successful blend of tourism and oenogastronomy.

To introduce the second edition of this initiative, which takes place on a regional scale, the Rocca di Lonato was chosen, from which a marvelous view of Lake Garda can be enjoyed. It is metaphorically an open door to Valtenesi.

Tourism and oenogastronomy together, as a pairing that can open new horizons for agricultural companies. This is the conviction of provincial agriculture councilors Giampaolo Mantelli and Ermes Buffoli: “The enhancement of this territory — says Mantelli — is linked to the ability to better showcase its products: from wine to oil, from cheeses to cold cuts, from jams to honey and more.”

Itineraries and cultural promotion

The itinerary of Valtenesi proposed on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 to visitors invites them to discover the “delights” of this Garda land.

“We have an artistic-cultural heritage — adds Buffoli — that deserves to be better known. Here in Lonato, for example, there is this Rocca marvelous and the Da Como Foundation which boasts collections of absolute importance (not only of ancient books), and even Brescia-based visitors know very little about it.”

“We need to believe in it, we can create a virtuous circle between tourism and culture.”

Brescia-based companies and regional participation

With only two exceptions, Brescia companies that have joined the second edition of “Per corti e cascine” are located in Valtenesi.

A leading role in the organization is played by Cristina Pellegrini, who manages the Valtenesi wineries of Moniga, and who will open her doors on Saturday and Sunday together with the farm companies Masserino, Monterotondo, and La Basia of Puegnago, the organic farm Ulif of Polpenazze, the agricultural farm-restaurant Trevisani of Soprazocco di Gavardo, and the farm La Torre of Mocasina di Calvagese.

The two Brescia-based exceptions are the agritourism Paros of Angolo and the farm Giorgio Volpi of Adro.

Results and regional participation

In Lombardy, 165 companies have joined, and 22 itineraries are proposed compared to 16 last year: as seen, the participation of our Province is quite limited.

Only Valtenesi responded in the best way, buoyed by the good results achieved last year when about a thousand visitors attended.

Those who come to see the companies, if they don’t buy wine or other products immediately, tend to return later. And positive word-of-mouth from satisfied buyers is excellent publicity.
