Summer 2023 Highlights: Opera, Ballet, and Concerts at Italian & International Venues
On July 4th, a special performance of Martyre de Saint Sebastién by D’Annunzio and Debussy took place, performed in Italian and French. The production was co-produced by Vittoriale and Théatre des Italiens in Paris, directed by Luigi Iannotta.
On July 5th, a concert by the Queensland Youth Orchestra Council was held, conducted by John Curro, featuring works by Stravinsky, Weber, Strauss, and Čajkovskij.
On July 7th, Il paese dei campanelli by Lombardo-Ranzato was performed, interpreted by Compagnia Edipus with Pippo Santonastaso and Silvia Felisetti.
On July 8th, Al Cavallino bianco by Benatzkin was presented, performed by Compagnia Edipus with Pippo Santonastaso and Giosfana Pizzardo.
On July 9th, Varieté d’Operetta— an anthology— was staged with Compagnia Edipus, Pippo Santonastaso, and Elena Biavati.

On July 13th, Romeo e Giulietta — Francesca da Rimini was performed by the Ballet of the Ukrainian State.
On July 15th, Tosca by Puccini was staged, featuring Nausicaa Policicchio, Stefano Anselmi, and William Hurtado; directed by Claudio Micheli.
On July 18th, Insalata di riso was presented, directed by Tullio Solenghi and Massimo Giuliani.
On July 20th, A fuego lento was performed, choreographed by Catherine Berbessou.
On July 22nd, a concert by the London Youth Philharmonic Orchestra took place, conducted by Paul Mann, with pianist Clive Britton, featuring works by Grieg, Dvořák, and Beethoven.
End of July and early August: concerts and operas
On July 25th, Vero o falso with Gaspare and Zuzzurro was staged.
On July 27th, La douce France by Juliette Greco was performed, directed by Giovanni Ribet, with Elena Bonelli.
On July 29th, Antonio Ligabue was performed by Compagnia di danza Artemis with Monica Casadei.
On August 1st, I due gentiluomini di Verona by Shakespeare was staged by Associazione Quarta Parete–Compagnia P. Proteus, directed by Enrico Petronio.
On August 3rd, a concert of Enzo Jannacci took place.
On August 5th, … e lucevan le stelle, a lyrical concert featuring tenor Kristjan Johannsson, soprano Danielle Streiff, and baritone Alberto Mastromarino, was directed by Giovanni Andreoli.
Mid-August concerts and performances
On August 11th, Il trovatore by Verdi was performed, with Enrica Bassano, Andrea Elena, and Angelo Nardinocchi; conducted by Silvano Frontalini.
On August 12th, La Traviata by Verdi was staged with the same performers, under the direction of Silvano Frontalini.
On August 17th, Il lago dei cigni was presented, a ballet by Balletto di Stato dell’Ucraina.
On August 19th, Francesco Renga held a concert.
On August 22nd, La vedova allegra by Lehar was performed, with Compagnia Edipus and Pippo Santonastaso, Bibiana Carusi.
On August 23rd, Cin Ci Là by Lombardo and Ranzato was staged, interpreted by Compagnia Edipus with Pippo Santonastaso and Silvia Felisetti.
On August 24th, Varieté d’Operetta was repeated.
On August 26th, the season concluded with Cats — The Lion King, a musical performed by Compagnia dei Giovani ’90.
