Lake Festival Pacengo Celebrates 26th Anniversary with Parade and Ceremony

Pacengo. The Lake Festival has reached its twenty-sixth edition this year, having been established by the sailors of Lazise and Pacengo back in 1974.

Location and tradition of the event

It will be held as is tradition at the port of Pacengo, in the large square facing the lake, lush with greenery and serving as a «launch pad» for many boats heading out onto the open lake.

The gathering with sailors from all sections of the Veronese Riviera of Lake Garda is scheduled for Sunday at 9:45 AM in the large Piazza Senatore Alberti, in front of the new monument to the fallen.

Here, there will be the flag-raising ceremony, and from this point, the parade with all the banners of the participating sections will set off towards the port.

Parade and religious celebration

The parade will be accompanied by the band of the city of Peschiera del Garda, led by Pacengo’s maestro Consolini.

At 10:30 AM, a Holy Mass will be celebrated with the participation of Pacengo’s parish priest, Don Sergio Fratucello.

At the conclusion of the rite, a large boat will depart from the port to the open waters, carrying the sailors of the Leonello Parolini group, who will drop a laurel wreath into the lake in memory of those who fell in the fulfillment of their duty of loyalty to the homeland.

Ceremony and return

The ceremony will be attended by Mayor Luca Sebastiano and Admiral Cesare Crepaldi, national counselor of the Associazione Marinai d’Italia.

Upon the boat’s return to port, a refreshments will be offered to all attendees.
