Corale S. Cecilia Celebrates 50 Years with Concert and Mass

Fifty years of beautiful singing. Tomorrow, Sunday, the Corale S. Cecilia celebrates its 50th anniversary. The celebration will feature a concert scheduled for 4 p.m. at the parish church of S. Andrea, where the choir was first “baptized” in 1951 during its debut performance. The strong advocate for voices joining together was the then-young maestro Diego Chimini, entrusted with direction by the parish priest Don Arturo Facchetti. Given the journey undertaken, this decision could not have been better.

Diego Chimini indeed led the Corale uninterruptedly, with great skill and passion, until September 1993. Over the years, there have been significant recognitions, but the commitment to liturgical service never waned. The most meaningful milestones in the history of Corale S. Cecilia — including the record produced in 1966, participation in the televised Mass in 1980, and accompanying the liturgy during Pope John Paul II’s visit to Brescia in September 1982 — are well recalled, with vintage photographs documenting the different lineups, in a booklet prepared for the occasion by Don Carlo Ghitti.

Tomorrow’s concert

The concert tomorrow, conducted by Maestro Gerardo Chimini, who received the baton from his father, will precede the Solemn Mass at 6 p.m., during which all the singers will be remembered. e.g.
