Pastrengo Sports Union Turns 10 with a Community Celebration

A game that lasted an entire afternoon to blow out ten candles. will turn 10 years old in June, and the management has decided to celebrate the event today, at the Pastrengo sports field.

From two in the afternoon until late evening, players of all ages will alternate on the field, including mini-pulcini and pulcini, esordienti and youth players, under-21s, and the first team, for a showcase of athletes of all ages.

The last to take the field will be the old heroes of Pastrengo—former players and officials—facing the first team of second category, which finished sixth this year.

History and development of U.S. Pastrengo

The journey of the Pastrengo Sports Union started as a gamble, with a team in third division and a squad of esordienti. It took three years for the team to settle in, but by the fourth year, U.S. Pastrengo began a surprisingly rapid ascent.

In the 94/95 third division season, they finished first in the standings and achieved promotion to second. In the following season, Pastrengo’s team won again and earned promotion to first category.

The success achieved was unfortunately accompanied by a severe crisis at the club level, to the extent that in the 97/98 season, it was difficult to find a president and board members.

Current situation and future objectives

In the latest season, the first team competed in second category, following the unfortunate fourth-last place finish last season. During the 1999/2000 year, the club counted 162 athletes, including: a second division team, an under-21 team, a youth team (12/13 years), an esordienti team (10/12 years), and a minipulcini team (6/7 years).

“Our dream remains to establish a first team composed solely of players from Pastrengo,” confides Lauro Bonsaver, the club president. Other board members include Luca Sandri, vice president; Lino Buttura, secretary; and councilors Renzo Pozzerle, Gianfranco Comerlati, Ivo Pinfarli, Riccardo Messetti, and Attilio Montagnoli.
