Polpenazze Fair Highlights 2023: Wine Competitions and Participating Wineries
Red, Superiore Red, Classic White, Chiaretto, and Groppello: these are the main wine categories that will be featured during the 51st edition, as has been the case in previous years, of this Polpenazze Fair. Meanwhile, liters of wine will have been poured at the numerous stands.
The event’s program unfolds over many moments, although it has not been easy to obtain a detailed and comprehensive overview of all the appointments. This 51st edition of the Polpenazze Fair did not have any official presentation moment.
This decision is one we do not share and which many found difficult to understand, given that it has become standard practice for every event, large or small, to have an official presentation.
The participating companies and competitions
From the information gathered, it appears that this year 37 companies are present at the fair, 28 of which have their own stands and 9 in the confirmed Corte degli assaggi, coordinated by the Ente vini bresciani.
There are three competitions, as in previous editions, which saw active participation. For the Garda Classico, 26 samples were submitted, of which 10 will be awarded during the official Sunday morning ceremony.
For the Superiore Red, 21 samples were submitted for selection, with 11 exceeding the minimum threshold of 80/100, and will be awarded. For the Classic White, 20 samples were proposed, with 9 selected.
Additionally, the Chiaretto, the star of the Moniga enological event, will have its commemorative moment with awards, as 28 samples were presented, with 9 winners.
Groppello and organizational decisions
Regarding Groppello, no awards, at least as reported to us, will be given. In fact, it has long been decided that each wine category would have its own event: Red in Polpenazze, Chiaretto in Moniga, and Groppello in Puegnago.
However, the substantial participation of exhibitors, which is rarely seen at other expos, encouraged the organizers of Polpenazze to accept all participants who submitted their samples to the various contests or selections.
