GARDESANA ONLUS Boosts Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Efforts
Last Saturday, a meeting was held in the historic celebration hall of the Grand Hotel Gardone, bringing together friends and supporters. The main objective was to update the supporters on the activities carried out and to promote fundraising efforts to improve and strengthen them.
The association, chaired by dott. Ambrogio Colombo, has been working for twelve years in the Lake Garda area to promote prevention in the oncological field. For over a decade, it has successfully promoted Pap tests for the prevention of uterine cancer.
Prevention and screening activities
For four years, thanks to the association’s efforts, 3,025 women aged between 50 and 60 have undergone breast screening, through mammograms. In 15 cases, early detection of small tumor formations was made, allowing timely intervention to prevent their development.
The association’s scope extends beyond medical prevention. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, four scholarships have been awarded to doctors from the Ospedale di Desenzano for further studies on diagnostic techniques, treatment methods, and breast reconstruction procedures following cancer.
Initiatives and fundraising
A Fiat Panda has been purchased and is assigned to the home care service of the ASL, mainly for cancer patients. For donations, a postal current account (no. 14193254) has been established.
The association GARDESANA Studio e Prevenzione Tumori is officially registered with the ONLUS registry. Those wishing to support it can benefit from a 19% Irpef tax deduction.
