Salò Gulf Development and Environmental Initiatives Update

Continues to be of interest the proposal to create an uninterrupted lakeside promenade in Salò that spans the entire gulf. Salò residents and their guests could start their walk at the Lido delle Tavine, where they would always keep the right side of their path bounded by the lake, leading up to the piazzale del Carmine.

The series of meetings organized under «Obiettivo Golfo» (Gulf Objective), by the «Amici del Golfo» (Friends of the Gulf) in collaboration with the Comune di Salò (Municipality of Salò), aims not only to continue thinking about and supporting this project—finding ways to make it practically feasible—but also to reflect on the broader situation of the Salò Gulf in terms of water quality and aquatic life, their purification, the geological features of the territory, and the regulations governing the area’s management.

Reflections on the project and environmental topics

«Including this project within a comprehensive re-evaluation (urban planning, logistics, road system) of the ‘Rive’ area» — says the Public Works Councillor, Bernardo Berardinelli — «I consider it strategic and fundamental for the future development of Salò».

«Attention to the gulf — emphasizes Pino Mongiello, Salò’s Councillor for Culture — requires a scientific approach, based on the latest instrumentation and methodologies, but also requires proper dissemination aimed at everyone who makes ‘use’ of it, residents and visitors alike, because only by understanding the gulf can we keep it alive».

In-depth meetings and discussed topics

With this spirit, two meetings are proposed. In the first, Dr. Adriano Cobello and P. Andreatta discussed «Ittiofauna and avifauna of the Salò Gulf»; Dr. Crescenzo Messina covered «Water quality of the Salò Gulf. Sampling and analysis methodology»; and Engineer Mario Giacomelli presented «The sewerage collection and purification system for Lake Garda and the Salò Gulf».

On Friday, June 2, three other speakers will participate: Dr. Piero Fiaccavento on «Notes on the geological formation of the Salò Gulf»; lawyer Alessandro Forni will discuss «Regulations concerning maritime concessions»; and Dr. Bernardo Berardinelli will speak about «Management of boat moorings in the Municipality of Salò».

Both evenings will take place in the Caminetto room at Palazzo Fantoni, starting at 9 p.m. The Cultural Department of the Comune di Salò is available for any inquiries at the phone number 0365 296827.
