Helicopter refueling station supports Eurotour 2000 ultralights across Europe
Six ultralight helicopters ULM CH 7 landed and stopped at the service station located adjacent to the highway connecting Cavalcasene to the Affi toll booth of the A22.
The aircraft had departed from Asti Airport heading towards Austria, piloted by Alex Giorgi, a former blue-suited skier of the national ski team. A skier of snow who now seeks to “redeem” himself in the skies of Europe.
The aircraft made a stop at the Martella Battistoni service station to refuel before reaching Passo Resia, then Reutte, and finally Tannhelm in the Federal Republic of Germany. A total of 370 kilometers, all covered in a single day.
Eurotour 2000 and refueling stops
The Eurotour 2000 for the helicopters also planned to reach the Danube River in the following days, going as far as Wolfsberg, Notsch, and ultimately circling through the European skies until Udine, via Tarvisio. Over 1,100 kilometers divided across five days of flying.
“The aircraft need to refuel every 130-160 kilometers,” states Battistoni, “and this is why Eni has started to activate this type of refueling service as well.”
“Our station is the first support point for helicopters currently in Italy,” continues the manager, “but others are under development. The future of fuel distribution, in the restructuring plan of the distribution network, as planned by the Government, also includes this: providing dedicated service stations for light and ultralight aircraft to land.”
“We are proud to have achieved a new milestone,” emphasizes Battistoni, “or rather, the opportunity to operate it with our service station.”
“It has been operational for just a few months and has already made headlines,” he continues, “being the only distributor in the Garda and Trentino area capable of refueling aircraft, including those used by law enforcement and emergency services.”
