Roadwork on SS11 in Basso Garda from June to October: traffic disruptions

From June 1st to October 31st, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, excluding public holidays, there will be disruptions for drivers traveling along the Strada Statale 11, Padana Superiore, heading to or from the Basso Garda area.

In fact, the roadway will be narrowed by implementing a temporary one-way system regulated by a mobile traffic light, at intermittent points along the stretch of the highway between the municipalities of Calcinato, Lonato, Desenzano del Garda, and Sirmione.

Excavation work and ongoing constructions

This section of the Padana Superiore will gradually be affected by excavation works for the installation and laying of telecommunication cables throughout June, July, August, September, and October.

The project will be carried out by the company Eurostrade, which has signed the relevant agreement with Anas.

Of course, lane closures and alternate one-way systems will only occur where there are active construction sites and in their immediate vicinity.

Safety measures and temporary restrictions

To ensure maximum safety during the works for road users, Anas, the Lombardy Regional Traffic Department, issued a specific ordinance dated June 1st.

As construction sites approach, signs will be set up indicating an initial speed limit of 50 km/h, followed by further restrictions to 30 km/h, as well as a no-overtaking zone for all motor vehicles.

The length of each construction zone must not exceed 200 meters, and daily restoration of the excavation with a base layer of asphalt mixture must be performed.

The contractor carrying out the work is required to regulate traffic with personnel present, especially in cases of emergency vehicle passage or in response to particularly high traffic volumes.

Disruptions and detours

The most significant disruptions will occur when, for cable installation work, the S. Zeno tunnel of the new variant to the Strada Statale 11 must be closed, with traffic diverted through the urban area of Lonato.

Another setback for those heading to Garda, following the prolonged construction on the détour of Statale 45bis Gardesana Occidentale between Gavardo and Villanuova sul Clisi, which will be temporarily reopened for the summer season.
