Bardolino Chiaretto DOC: Celebrating Italy’s Iconic Rosé Wine

From the Bardolino Chiaretto festival to the Riviera celebration. The name changes, but the essence remains the same. In fact, it continues to be an event in honor of the Bardolino Chiaretto DOC, with its characteristic qualities as a leading wine.

The largest Italian production within the Chiaretti denomination is produced in the “bardolino” area, which is home to the first Brut sparkling wine made from Chiaretto, crafted using natural fermentation methods (classic and Charmat).

In addition to the well-established market recognition — 10 million bottles sold, equivalent to 70,000 hectoliters of wine, representing one-third of the entire “bardolino” DOC production; 50,000 are bottles of Brut sparkling wine, demonstrating its trendiness, aligned with evolving consumer tastes.

Characteristics of Bardolino Chiaretto

This wine type has its origins in ancient vinicultural practices handed down through generations in local cellars. The Bardolino Chiaretto DOC is essentially the rosé version of Bardolino; it is produced by white vinification of the same grapes (corvina, rondinella, molinara, and negrara) with minimal skin contact (partial contact of must with skins), which enhances the bouquet with very pleasant aromas.

It’s a wine appreciated by connoisseurs, especially those who favor fruity fragrances, lively and fragrant taste, delicate shades of color, with that coral pink that illuminates an elegant bottle. Due to its pronounced fragrance and aroma, it is served at a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius. It pairs well with fish, cured meats, risottos, and white meats.
