Water Shortage Prompts Restriction in Town During Peak Tourist Season
The water shortage in the municipal aqueduct was felt immediately, at the first hot spell of the season. The mayor promptly issued a water consumption restriction ordinance, also considering the increase in foreign tourists staying at campsites and hotels in the town and in the districts of Colà and Pescengo starting this week for the Pentecost holiday.
Contents of the Ordinance
“It is strictly forbidden,” states the ordinance posted on the municipal notice boards, “for anyone to use water from the public aqueduct through hoses or taps connected to it for purposes other than human consumption, particularly for watering vegetable gardens or lawns. The use is prohibited from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.”
Violators will face an administrative fine of 300,000 lire. The ban has been in effect since June 6 and will remain so until revoked by the mayor.
