Mani Tese Leads Global March 2000 Against Child Exploitation in Italy
An initiative against child exploitation. It is led by Mani Tese, a national non-profit organization, which mobilized yesterday in 100 Italian squares to engage citizens and encourage them to support the international campaign Global March 2000.
“Mani Tese” coordinates the movement against child labor and exploitation across Europe.
According to statistics from the International Labour Organization, over 250 million children aged between 5 and 14 work to survive, and more than 130 million are exploited in hazardous jobs, dropping out of school.
The strategy developed includes raising awareness, allocating resources, promoting respect for workers’ rights, and increasing inspections to inform consumers.
In Desenzano, in Piazza Malvezzi, one of the 100 squares involved in this initiative, signatures were collected and informational materials distributed yesterday.
