Malcesine Law Enforcement Boosts Security and Confiscates Drugs

In a letter sent to Mayor Giuseppe Lombardi, merchants and shop owners in Malcesine requested increased oversight from law enforcement authorities, aiming for a “Safe Malcesine,” as their adopted slogan states.

Alternatively, they suggested a backup solution, which they believed could serve as a deterrent for thieves and malicious actors: hiring private security patrols during nighttime hours.

Recently, merchants and shop owners can be considered satisfied, given the intensive work carried out by the Carabinieri of Malcesine, who within one week carried out an arrest and completed several control operations.

In recent times, no burglaries have been reported in the town.

Recent police operations and seizures

One week ago, besides arresting a young man from Malcesine for drug dealing and heroin possession, three Albanians with fake passports were stopped. The three individuals were subsequently taken to Questura in Verona.

Over the recent weekend, some drug doses were confiscated, and a Malcesine resident and a young man from Monza were reported to the Prefettura of Verona for possession of narcotics.

Also in recent days, two individuals not authorized to conduct trade, who were in town selling various items—known as “vu-cumpra”—were taken to the Questura di Verona. They will proceed from there with an expulsion operation since they lacked residence permits and licenses to sell goods.

Community surveillance and control activities

Since the arrival of the new Marshale Donato Convertini, law enforcement has been engaged in various operations, including a general check of non-EU citizens, as well as evening surveillance aimed at preventing drug dealing and accidents related to such activities.

The control measures have been intensified also due to the start of the tourist season.
