Desenzano Unveils Carabinieri Statue Honoring Service Commitment

Concretizing the initiative to commemorate the commitment of the Arma, the Carabinieri Association of Desenzano, in collaboration with the Arma in service and with the patronage of the municipal administrations of Desenzano, Pozzolengo, and Sirmione,

The project, now a reality as the residents of Desenzano can see in Piazza Garibaldi, will be the focus of a solemn inauguration ceremony scheduled for Sunday, June 18, marking the commitment of all members of the Arma in both active duty and reserves.

The statue and its creation

The sculpture depicts a carabiniere in the historic 1848 uniform. The statue, mounted on a pedestal composed of three blocks of Botticino pink marble, was crafted using the cire-perdue technique by the art foundry Birman of Verona, and by artist Angelo Agnini from Nove, Vicenza.

Agnini is also known for having sculpted the Holy Door of the Basilica di San Pietro for the 2000 Jubilee.

The event and guests

The event, scheduled for Sunday the 18th beginning at 9:30 AM, will host top officials of the Arma both in active duty and in reserves, provincial and local authorities, and citizens who contributed actively to the realization.

This occasion will also serve as an interprovincial gathering of the Arma in reserves, and as a backdrop for a more solemn and joyful celebration, all Carabinieri associations from Brescia and neighboring provinces have been invited.
