Lake Garda Water Quality Report: Safe for Bathing, Monitoring Ongoing

The Garda Community returns, as in every summer season, to be a center of information on water quality for bathing through the activation of the Environmental and Tourist Secretariat Service and Sommerservice ADAC/Enit.

At the start of the season, it can be confirmed that the water quality for bathing in Lake Garda is very good. Out of the 125 sampling points monitored across the entire lake perimeter by the Local Health Authorities according to strict Italian regulations, there are no bathing bans due to parameters exceeding the thresholds set for evaluating the hygienic condition of bathing waters.

The Sommerservice Project and Water Monitoring

Sommerservice began in early June with the arrival on Garda of a biologist commissioned by the Costanza Institute of Hydrobiology on behalf of the German Automobile Club, an association with over 14 million members. The biologist’s role is to process, considering the limits established by European community regulations, data collected through the collaboration of the Public Hygiene Offices of Local Health Authorities, the ARPAV of Verona, the PMIP of Brescia, the Health Authority of the Autonomous Province of Trento, as well as meteorological services from the Region of Veneto, the Province of Brescia, and the Provincial Agency for Environmental Protection of the Autonomous Province of Trento.

The biologist also prepared updated information that the ADAC disseminates daily by phone, in print, and via the Internet. Supported by the Italian National Tourism Board, the Regions of Lombardy and Veneto, and the Autonomous Province of TrentoAPT of Garda Trentino, the Garda Community aims to continuously provide accurate and complete information directly to the homes of German-speaking European tourists, who are the main visitors to Lake Garda.

Services for Tourists and Access to Information

For those already on the lake or for Italian tourists, the Environmental and Tourist Secretariat service is operational. It provides weather information, guidance on accommodation, infrastructure, sporting and recreational activities, as well as cultural and entertainment events organized in the various towns around the lake.

This service can be accessed by calling the Garda Community office (0365/290411) or by consulting the website www.lagodigarda.it, which is constantly updated.
