Luisa Zaniboni Honors Father Andrea with Memorial in Tenno
Luisa Zaniboni, a Brescia native through her marriage to her fellow citizen, engineer Angelo Faroni, is well known to us for her great passion for the mountains. She wanted to solemnly remember her father Andrea, who belonged to a “historic” family from Riva; a figure who, for various reasons, would deserve much more than these brief lines of news.
Born in 1893, a deserter from the Austrian army, in January 1915 he fortuitously took refuge in Italy; under a false name, he enlisted in the Alpini, fighting as a private on the Adamello, and later, as an officer, in Val Sugana, at Cauriol, and on Monte Grappa.
In 1942, a captain, he was in Russia, on the Don; he reached the rank of colonel. In 1957, on a plot of land in a splendid position in the Municipality of Tenno, with one of the early “lotting” developments (a pioneering enterprise at the time), he founded the village of “Piazze,” where, uniquely within the entire Basso Sarca area, Italians and Germans, locals and holidaymakers, have lived together in perfect harmony for nearly fifty years.
Inauguration of the monument and celebration
This was manifested concretely on Sunday, June 18, when, in the presence of local authorities, Luisa, with brief, emotional words, immediately translated into German, in the festive surroundings of the Alpini, to the sound of their excellent band, inaugurated the monument that commemorates him. The stele was crafted by the famous “Graniti Pedretti” of Carisolo in Val Rendena, featuring a bronze effigy by sculptor Fra Silvio Boles.
Later, at the beautiful villa, built from an ancient watchtower, amongst olive trees and vineyards, with a stunning view of the lake, a rich buffet immediately fostered among the numerous guests, perhaps precisely because of their heterogeneity, a spontaneous atmosphere of warm, festive, and electrifying friendliness.
