Castiglione Allocates Nearly 3 Billion Lire for Social Services in 2000

In 1999, the municipality of Castiglione spent over 2 billion 600 million lire on social services, and for 2000, the councilor responsible for the sector, Erminia Biaggi, plans to make available just under 3 billion lire to support the most vulnerable, a 12% increase from the previous year.

Interventions and Resources Dedicated to Social Welfare

The figures, extrapolated from the final budget, demonstrate a detailed intervention across various social sectors, from minors to the elderly and people with disabilities: over 182 million lire were allocated to the housing service (and in 2000, there were increased contributions to combat high rental costs), while the nursery school absorbed approximately 778 million lire.

“Il cucciolo” (The Puppy), for example, underwent major maintenance work and updates to equipment and appliances, without any increase in fees.

Nearly 382 million lire were spent on initiatives for minors, such as the recreation center, family placements, institutional care, home educational assistance services, and Cres programs.

A substantial contribution was allocated to the elderly: 651 million lire divided among home care services, meal delivery, telecare, and payment of fees for the retirement home.

Support for Citizens and Data on Social Services

For the general population, the municipality disbursed approximately 630 million lire: the spendings included support for people with disabilities, subsidies to private individuals, transportation, senior centers, and aid to foreigners.

Interesting data also concern how many people are assisted by social services: 16 minors in foster care or institutionalized, 100 elderly receiving home assistance, 30 daily meals provided, 5 elderly in retirement homes with fees paid by the municipality, and 50 applications collected for admission to an assisted living facility.

Regarding people with disabilities, 2 are in institutions, 10 attend socio-educational centers, 8 are followed by the Cooperativa Fiordaliso, and 5 are transported to the Casa del Sole.

Finally, in 1999, 53 contributions were approved for privately in need, totaling 73 million lire.
