Arco Receives Europe’s “Star of Europe” Award for Twinning Efforts

The delegation from Arco traveled all the way to Finland to receive the «Star of Europe,» composed of counselor Miori and members of the municipal association “Arco Obiettivo Europa”, Lino Rosà, Armando Briscoli, and Emanuela Cretti.

This prestigious award from the Council of Europe recognizes municipalities that have distinguished themselves through twinning and friendship relations with other localities across the twelve states of the old continent.

Arco is the only city in Trentino and one of the few in Italy (4 in 2000) to have received it, thanks to the over a decade of activity of “Arco Obiettivo Europa”. The association, coordinated by the municipal department of culture and presided over by Lino Rosà, is the driving force behind the relations with the twin German communities of Schotten and Bogen.

Recently, it has signed friendship agreements with municipalities from various nations. For some time, the association has involved the Gardascuola institute in programs promoting European issues.

This autumn, the focus will be on middle school students with an educational trip to Germany.
