Banks Urged to Support Castiglione’s Cultural Initiatives by Mayor Sigurtà

“Banks should take responsibility for the cultural initiatives of our municipality”. This plea was made in recent days by Mayor Arturo Sigurtà to the directors of the banking branches present in the municipality.

The presence and importance of banks in Castiglione

It must be said that the presence of banks in Castiglione is certainly very significant: in a municipality that in recent years has had the highest IRAP revenue in the entire province, there are 15 banking institutions represented by their own branches and by counters for collecting citizens’ and companies’ money.

Mayor Sigurtà has long maintained that, despite the economic strength of the local realities, the municipality of Castiglione, as an institution, is very poor: “We are in a situation where our municipal budget struggles to support the initiatives we would like to finance.” Furthermore, we are often forced to cancel some initiatives because we are unable to secure the necessary funding to implement them.

Economic situation and the mayor’s initiatives

This is despite the fact that a series of economic realities, with the data at hand, project us at the top of the province. That’s why I often say – explained Mayor Sigurtà – “a wealthy town, a poor municipality”.

Consequently, the mayor’s initiative was to appeal to the entities managing this wealth in Castiglione, namely the banks.

The mayor summoned the branch managers and presented them with a problem, that of cultural initiatives: “I know that very often our banks sponsor the initiatives of Castiglione associations, and I thanked them for that.” However, I asked them to consider taking responsibility for the cultural initiatives of our municipality.

I even hope that among the banks a sort of competition will develop for the title of the most generous institute. I believe that with a bit of good will, they could provide the municipality with the funds needed to finance the most important cultural events of the year.

The bank managers committed to reporting to their respective headquarters, demonstrating their willingness nonetheless.
