Michael Dultz Named 2000 Garda Classic Ambassador for Lake Awareness
It will be the German journalist Michael Dultz who will serve as the ambassador of the classic Garda for the year 2000. The recognition, conceived by wine producers from Garda Brescia and now in its fourth edition, aims to honor the work of information and awareness regarding the lake and its typical products carried out outside national borders by figures from the cultural world and journalists.
The appointment of the “ambassador” will be made official tonight during a gala evening at the Grand Hotel di Gardone Riviera. After the investiture in the previous three editions of Swiss Rolf Kriesi, Austrian Helmut Romè (both specialized in oenology), and the famous Irish tenor Kristjan Johansson, the fourth ambassador of the classic Garda will thus be the German Dultz.
Career and Editorial Initiatives
Michael Dultz, editor of specialized publications of the Adac publishing house (the editorial branch of the homonymous German automobile club with over 13 million members), serves as a sort of Virgil for the numerous Germans who each year choose Garda as a holiday destination.
Among his editorial initiatives dedicated to the largest Italian lake, we recall the Adac “Lago di Garda” guide (over 50,000 copies sold), as well as a special monograph on Benaco in the magazine “Adac-Reisenmagazine” (over 500,000 copies distributed).
Acknowledgments to Garda Friends
Following a well-established tradition from previous editions of the event, recognitions will also be awarded in Gardone to the “Amici del Garda”: this includes Claude Monteverdi, owner of the famous restaurant of the same name in Paris, Charlotte Heiss and her husband Bob, the German couple who founded the cultural association Cecina Preomotions, and Loek Van De Loo, a Dutch tour operator.
A special recognition will finally be presented by Garda winemakers to Giovanni Battista Comincioli, a pioneer of modern Garda wine production and a founding member of the Consorzio tutela vini bresciani.
Gastronomic Proposals and Collaboration
It is worth noting that, further confirming the collaboration established between the Consorzio del Garda classico, presided over by Alessandro Redaelli De Zinis, and the Comune di Gardone Riviera, some of the best restaurants in town will offer typical menus throughout July, mainly based on lake fish, paired with chiaretti from the classic Garda.
