Riva Lacks Adequate Lighting as Old, Rusty Lamps Persist
Obsolete and rusty, the streetlights illuminating the center of Riva seem to have truly reached the end of their lifespan. Aside from being unquestionably unsightly, especially for a town with a tourism vocation like ours, the old lamps no longer appear to be able to adequately perform their function.
The public lighting situation
If along the historic avenues, the “Riva pole” has appeared, offering a significant boost in image and light, the center still retains the old, unattractive pre-war lights.
“If one evening we were to turn off the spotlights on our shop windows simultaneously,” exclaims a shopkeeper, “I am sure Riva would be left in darkness, or almost. I am absolutely certain that the current public lighting system cannot provide the amount of light that a tourist town like ours truly needs.”
And to think that nearly ten years ago, the installation of new, beautiful lamps on the buildings had already been announced, and Amsea had proceeded to install all the necessary systems for the new lighting scheme.
It would be enough just to install the lights, really. So what is hindering this simple yet very important step?
