Brescia Researchers and Producers Lead Alambicco del Garda 2000 Grappa Contest
The interregional grappa contest named «Alambicco del Garda 2000» was presented in Lonato at the «La Rosa» trattoria. It is organized by the Comune di Puegnago in collaboration with the Brescia section of the Associazione Nazionale Assaggiatori Grappa (Anag).
Participants and Future Initiatives
About forty economic and tourism operators were present, and they outlined the initiative which will take place at the beginning of September during the Fiera di Puegnago. The mayor of the Comune dell’Alta Valtenesi, Gianfranco Comincioli, attended, along with the president of the Brescia section of the Anag, Renato Paini.
Objectives and Methods of the Contest
It was emphasized that the «Alambicco del Garda 2000» aims to invite producers operating in Lombardy, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige to participate in the competition, in order to award the best grappas. These will be recommended to industry operators and consumers as benchmarks of quality eaux-de-vie, based on evaluations by tasting panel members.
The judging panels are composed of experts who evaluate samples which are anonymized. The grappas with the highest scores will be declared winners of the «Alambicco del Garda 2000» in categories such as: young grapper, aromatic young, aged, queen of Franciacorta, princess of Lugana, and prince of Groppello grappa.
