Opposition to Long Tunnel Project Prompts Public Meeting in Vallagarina

“The municipal administration, perhaps to avoid ‘upsetting’ President Dellai, does not intend to delve deeply into the ‘long tunnel’ issue in the connection with Vallagarina, and so the minority councils, along with those from Rivano, will take action,” clarifies Matteo Tamanini, a councilor from the Lega Nord, announcing a public meeting scheduled for next Friday at the Casinò, organized by the opposition parties of the two cities on this hot topic. Engineer Ferrari, the designer of the ‘long tunnel’ between Lake Loppio and the Busa plain, will present the advantages of the underground route, which will avoid the obstacle of the San Giovanni pass, in contrast to the ‘short tunnel’ proposed by the Province.

Discussion on the tunnel project

“The presentation was possible last week at the Rivano city council,” sharply clarifies Tamanini, “strangely, it is not feasible at the Arco council even if the city’s territory will be more heavily impacted by future road choices. Our municipal assembly discussed this issue at the proposal of ‘Arcoinsieme’ and hosted President Dellai. Unfortunately, the discussion was ‘one-way,’ meaning only the ‘short tunnel’ was considered.
