Manerba Summer Events: Theatre, Markets, Art, and Music Festivals
The program of «Estate aperta 2000», organized by the Lonate Teatrale company «Le Maree» directed by Aldo Parolini from Manerba, officially began with the company, cheerfully accompanying both tourists and residents during the summer evenings of this fully underway tourist season.
The municipal administration, through the Assessorato al turismo (Department of Tourism), and Pro Loco, wanted to propose a series of events suitable for both adults and younger audiences, as well as nature lovers. As in previous years, the evening market returns every Tuesday, connecting the two main hamlets, Montinelle and Solarolo, with a long row of stalls.
Summer Events and Appointments
In each of the two squares, there will be a musical ensemble playing music from today and the past. On Wednesday, July 12th, the only event of the summer, from 4 pm to 8 pm, will be the antique market «Il Garda tra antico e vecchi mestieri» (Garda between Antiques and Old Crafts), which will take place in via Vittorio Veneto.
As in almost all the towns of Valtenesi, Manerba also proposes a series of open-air cinema evenings, starting July 13th in the garden of the former parish theater, with «Insider». There will also be numerous theatrical evenings every Friday in July, in the beautiful and evocative outdoor amphitheater of Balbiana, finally utilized for its original purpose, featuring numerous theater companies from different Brescia localities.
On July 17th, there will be an event in Piazza San Bernardo in Montinelle with Rock, while on July 24th, in Piazza Aldo Moro, a show will feature beautiful girls on the runway for the auditions of «Un’italiana per Miss Mondo» (An Italian for Miss World) and «Ragazza Ciak».
Art Exhibitions and Artistic Events
In the Church of San Giovanni, painting exhibitions featuring Valtenesi artists continue. After Rolando Lambiase and Danilo Rossi, currently showing, from July 15th to 30th, Adolfo Penocchio will present his «Aquarelles». Afterwards, works by Paola Alberti and Riccardo Maffioli will be exhibited.
Finally, as already announced, from August 1st to 22nd, the event «Harmonies under the Castle» will return. Nine evenings of classical music featuring artists of national and international fame. Artistic director: Daniele Alberti.
As tradition dictates, popular festivals will also take place, including the San Bernardo Festival, patron saint of Montinelle, from August 18th to 20th, and San Giovanni, patron saint of Solarolo, on August 29th.
