Castiglione Advances with New Gyms, Sports Center, and Facilities
There are significant updates for athletes in Castiglione: with the completion of the lighting installation at the tamburello court, the project for constructing two new gyms, and the approval of the sports center at Pirossina, Castiglione will soon have a substantial number of facilities for physical activity, as emphasized by the councilor for sports, Angelo Tagliani.
Finally, the works at the tamburello court are finished, with the lighting systems installed, and a youth night tournament is being organized to inaugurate the evening activities at the field.
New facilities and ongoing projects
Also near the San Pietro sports center, upstream of the stadium, the works to build a six-a-side grass football pitch will commence shortly, primarily for use by residents of the Quartiere I Maggio.
In this part of the city, a concrete surface will be constructed for various disciplines, from volleyball and basketball to skating. However, the two new gyms are the most significant updates approved by the council:
One will be built at the Belvedere elementary school, and the other near the Gozzolina schools. “The structure at Belvedere – explains Tagliani – will serve the school and will be regulation size for volleyball and basketball matches.
The gym in Gozzolina will cater to many amateur groups in the area and will encourage the local population to practice sports.” The neighborhood gym, in fact, will be accessible not only from the elementary and nursery schools but also from the public park adjacent to the parish church.
“An important boost to sports will come from the large center that will be built at Pirossina,” concludes councilor Tagliani, “because in that area, we will be able to organize major events for which there are currently no suitable venues.” Covering 120,000 square meters, the area will host motocross, roller skating, pistol, rifle, and bow shooting, beach volleyball, mountain biking, and rock climbing.
