Brescian Wines Highlighted at Milan’s Sapori di Lombardia Festival

The Brescian wines will be among the main features of «Sapori di Lombardia», which will be presented at the sforza court of the Teatro Franco Parenti as part of «Milano Estate», marking the first time that an event dedicated to enogastronomy has been included in this festival.

Last night, Monday, under the spotlight, the appointment was with «Brescia and its territory», showcasing the Pusterla vineyard, the largest vineyard in Europe located within an urban center. Tastings included wines from Ronchi paired with cheeses from Mompiano and Valtrompia; the evening concluded with peaches from Valtrompia.

Upcoming Events and Tastings

This evening will feature Valle Camonica with the theme «From Rocks to Vineyard: The History of Man». Valle Camonica is the heart of Lombard culture, evidenced by the numerous rock carvings left by the Camuni with their engravings on stone. The symbol of Lombardy, the Rosa Camuna, originates precisely from this rock art park, protected by UNESCO.

For tasting, there will be cheeses, cured meats, honey, and chestnuts, paired with DOC wines from Lake Garda in general. Tomorrow, the focus will be on «Pievi and Castles of Valtenesi in the Scents of Classic Garda». The eno-gastronomic offerings include high-quality extra virgin olive oils, white and black olive pâtés, combined with various types of Garda Classico DOC wines.

Finally, on Thursday, a special evening dedicated entirely to a single wine category: «The Ancient Land of Lugana». This area, Lugana, has been producing one of the world’s most celebrated white wines since ancient times: Lugana. This wine was praised by Catullus and other historical figures who, once tasted, never forgot this nectar of Bacchus; instead, they became great promoters and disseminators, sharing it through their odes, verses, and writings.

This is a so-called «all-purpose» wine, sparkling, still, or «Superiore», pairing well with lake or sea fish, regional cheeses, and is excellent for aperitifs and celebratory toasts.
