Vito Oliari Named President of Comprensorio C9 Authority

Vito Oliari, mayor of Tiarno di Sopra, already serving as an assessor, is the new president of the Comprensorio C9. He was elected by the assembly on Monday evening, with 33 votes out of 40 present. Oliari succeeds Bernardo Penner and is already fully operational.

Along with Vito Oliari, the assembly appointed six other assessors to the Executive Board, all mayors of different municipalities within the Basso Sarca: Cesare Malossini from Rivano and Renato Veronesi from Arco (who represent continuity with the previous Executive), Gianmarco Marocchi of Tenno, Gianni Benuzzi of Dro, Mauro Collotta of Bezzecca, and Franco Brighenti of Molina di Ledro.

The “Mayors’ Executive” and the situation of the Comprensorio

This marked the return of the so-called “Mayors’ Executive,” which was inaugurated back in 1995, when it seemed that the reform of the Comprensori was imminent and that the entity was rapidly disbanding.

This was not the case, and even today it is difficult to say when the much-criticized Comprensorio will be replaced by something else. Perhaps for this reason, the minority group of the “Casa delle Libertà” chose to ensure quorum, after Paolo Matteotti and Tonelli (from Margherita) attempted to persuade the assembly to postpone the appointments until September, also because the new Oliari Government had not presented a strategic document.

Commitments and next steps of the Executive

“We asked for and obtained Oliari’s commitment to bring general topics of great interest to the Comprensorio, such as traffic and healthcare,” – said Niko Posenato of Forza Italia, on behalf of the Casa delle Libertà – “The president responded positively, and for this reason, we voted for him.”

On Friday morning, the new C9 Executive, led by Oliari, will meet to reallocate internal positions.
