Rivano Philatelic Group Challenges Poste Italiane with Satirical Postcard Campaign
“The pen wounds more than the sword,” says an ancient adage. And the pencil of a satirical artist can do even worse.
Aware of this, the Circolo Filatelico Numismatico Rivano officials have decided to undertake a biting awareness campaign against Poste Italiane, which, unlike many other countries, does not allow the use of customized
postage labels for tourist areas or monuments of particular value.
The satirical postcard and the protest
In this regard, a satirical postcard has been prepared to be distributed during the philatelic exhibition themed “Tourism,” scheduled for September 16 and 17 under the porticoes of the Palazzo Comunale. It can be sent to Poste Italiane to finally make possible the replacement of the current anonymous amphibian
stamps printed on envelopes and postcards.
The initiative by the Circolo Filatelico Rivano has also been communicated to philatelic circles in many other Italian localities, and the support has been immediately enthusiastic and numerous.
The battle of the postcards
A battle fought with postcards, in short, promoted by the Rivano circle. If successful, it would bring, indubitable – and importantly, practically free – promotional benefits to the tourism image of Italy’s main localities.
