Province approves Riva bypass plan; €58B project links Sarca region

Yesterday, the Province Public Works Committee approved the definitive plan for the Riva west bypass, which, with an estimated cost of around 58 billion euros, represents one of the most important projects planned for the future road network of the Basso Sarca and proposed by the “Special Road Connection Project Trento-Rocchetta and Rovereto-Riva”.

Project Details

As outlined in recent weeks, the first section of the project will consist of a tunnel on the mountainous western side of the town, 640 meters long, with an entrance in the south, near the Via Monte Oro interchange, and the northern entrance near Via Ardaro.

After a short “trench” section, with parking and service areas, there will be approximately 137 meters of artificial tunnel, right beneath the existing roadway, which will be reconstructed and kept operational.

Connections and Implementation Timeline

The new route will connect to the provincial road 37 via an appropriate roundabout. From there, until its connection with the Stradale 45 bis south of Arco, the new road will serve, with three roundabout exits, the manufacturing and exhibition area of “Baltera”, the State Road 421, and finally, the provincial road 36 of the Garzie between the località Pasina and the cement plant.

The construction timeline is estimated at 25 months, with a reward for the contractor if the work is completed ahead of schedule.
