Riva Councilor Questions Garda Community Fees and Benefits

Exploring the decisions of the Rivana council, the councilor Pier Giorgio Zambotti discovered that the 2000 lire registration fee for the Garda community amounts to 53,247,170 lire for the municipality of Riva, nearly 4000 lire for each person registered in the registry office.

At that point, the councilor asked the mayor to list the benefits that the municipality of Riva gains from joining the community, benefits so significant that they justify an expenditure which, while not astronomically high, remains nonetheless substantial.

Zambotti’s question reflects a way of thinking about administration that always finds some supporters: the idea that twinnings, meetings, exchanges, promotions, and round tables primarily serve to ensure a certain number of dinners for the main participants.
