Guidizzolo and Medole Bypass Finalizes by October 15, Region Plans Next

By October 15th, the administrations of Guidizzolo and Medole must sign a final agreement regarding the bypass project. This was reported by Mayor Maccari at the opening of the recent town council meeting, adding that in recent days the municipality of Cavriana has sent the awaited response after several months, which does not bring any particular novelties compared to the past. After this final phase, it will be necessary to wait for the new three-year public works plan of the Region.

Appointments and Budget Discussions

The mayor also announced the appointment of Renato Azzini as the new assessor with delegated responsibilities for culture and events, while social services have been transferred from the mayor himself to the public education assessor, Stefania Monici. The discussion then moved to some items concerning the budget.

With the presence of municipal accountant Daniele Guerra, the council approved with a majority the review of the implementation status of the programs and the related control of budget balances, highlighting how, despite definite expenses, it is not always possible, due to ever-changing regulations, to establish equally certain revenues.

Conflict of Interest and Controversy

The examination and approval of the agreement with the new A.C. Guidizzolo company for the maintenance of the facilities in the sports center prompted opposition councilor Lidia Tosi to raise an issue regarding what she claimed was a “conflict of interest” between some members of the Sports Commission, who are also managers of the sports club.

After extensive discussion, the mayor noted that, in a small town, it is almost impossible to have commission members who are not also involved in this or that company. Nonetheless, he considered the observation well-founded and entrusted the majority group leader Giovanni Milani with further investigating the matter.

Land Sale and Norms Amendments

Lastly, the Council expressed its opinion on setting the sale price for approximately 13,000 square meters of municipal land located in the industrial zone. The opposition reiterated its opposition to the sale: the price was set at L. 90,000 plus VAT per square meter.

In conclusion, after an amendment to the technical standards of the Prgc to allow the construction of hotel structures also in zones B3 and D1, councilor Magda Bodrito pointed out the increasing urgency of reorganizing the weekly market to allow emergency vehicles to pass between the stalls.

She cited an incident that happened the day before, where a lady feeling unwell was taken to hospital by ambulance after being carried across the market in a stretcher for several meters. The mayor and assessor Gialdini responded that a new market distribution plan is under study, which will aim to reach full consensus with the various vendors.
