Lake Cleanup Efforts Continue Despite Boat Breakdowns

Waste above and waste below. The many, too many, people who pollute do not go very easily. The lake and its most charming beaches are nothing but a large dump for them.

They dispose of what is no longer needed without restraint, perhaps after a day spent admiring its beauties and cooling off in its waters. This was noticed by the Nago-Torbole Firefighters, on Sunday, September 24, during a scheduled outing coinciding with the event promoted by Lega Ambiente, “Clean Up the World”.

Waste removal and cleaning operations

In particular, the beach near Corno di Bò needed cleaning. Several bags filled with garbage were collected both on the open beach and underwater. Mostly plastic bottles and cans were recovered.

Of course, two volunteer divers, Nadi Fedrizzi and Gunter Gtzoller, dove to retrieve debris, supported by the old motorboat provided to the Nago-Torbole crew. Unfortunately, the boat broke down at the worst moment — laments Commander Giuliani: “The malfunction prevented us from continuing the operation on the beach opposite the Colonia Pavese”.

As a result, they had to return early pulled back by the most efficient boat available to the Riva district. Nonetheless, the firefighters are not discouraged: the clean-up operation is only postponed, and will continue once the boat is able to sail again without the risk of breaking down once more.
