Rita Farina Named President of Associazione Colline Moreniche del Garda
Rita Farina, young cultural assessor of the municipality of Ponti sul Mincio, is the new president of the Associazione colline moreniche del Garda.
The appointment was unanimous and took place during the association’s general assembly upon the proposal of the mayor of Cavriana, Bruno Righetti.
Rita Farina’s election is, in a sense, a painful one, as she replaces the president elected two years ago, Giuseppe Zecchini, who is currently bed-bound in a hospital due to illness with quite long prospects for recovery.
Rita Farina joined the Colline Moreniche association about a year ago, when her predecessor was struck by illness, and Bruno Righetti took over to replace two resigning councilors. Recently, she was then appointed to the association’s leadership; her term will last until next year.
Ideas and Projects of the New President
The new president already has clear ideas regarding her commitment, despite the limited time.
“I believe,” she says, “that the association should not be limited to programming certain events but should serve as a connector with the various municipalities that make up the association, especially when they organize festivals, fairs, and other events: for example, during Christmas, with collaboration from the municipalities themselves.
The ideal,” continues Rita Farina, “would be to create a calendar of all these events to submit to the Province.”
Another project that the cultural assessor of the municipality of Ponti sul Mincio is considering is a collaboration between the municipalities within the association to organize guided excursions, mainly involving schools.
“We should create packages that illustrate the routes and, above all, involve not only teachers but also volunteers.
For example: visits to historic monuments of a town, with teachers who know the local realities and history, so as to transmit to the students not only dry historical facts but also knowledge and emotions.”
Finally, regarding the Progetto Scienze, which was held recently and was very successful, the new president has a wonderful project she hopes to realize:
“I would like to create an organizing body that contains a small scientific committee and a second small committee to evaluate the various proposals submitted: an organization composed of two representatives from each of the eight towns that form the Associazione turistica colline moreniche del Garda. Only then can initiatives like Progetto Scienze have a future.”
