Lemon Connectivity and Road Repair Updates Along Garda Shore
Lemon is not isolated: connections with the Brescia shore are possible. These links are confirmed, while as early as yesterday the Comune di Limone was negotiating with the Transport Company the possibility of a connection southward: Tremosine and Gargnano.
Transit connections and alternatives
Heading south, an alternative transit route is available, consisting of the provincial road that, from Limone, ascends to the hamlets of Bazzanega and Voltino in Tremosine. From there, it continues up to Pieve and then descends back to the lake, opening at the Port of Tremosine.
Another option is the continuation of the same road from Pieve di Tremosine to Polzone, reaching – via the Provinciale Tignalga – Gardola and then descending onto the Gardesana, just before the settlement of Gargnano.
The fate of the Gardesana will be decided today. Saturday night’s landslide has worsened an already difficult and complicated situation. At this point, we can only wait for the decisions to be made today, or at least the hypotheses that will be formulated regarding the transitability of the Gardesana.
Situation and interventions on the Gardesana road
The road – as a reminder – was to remain closed on weekdays, allowing only night traffic and midday traffic, from Monday last week until January, to carry out work in areas just a few kilometers from the sites affected by the recent landslide.
All has been postponed until now due to weather conditions. Now, this new situation adds to the previous concerns that already worried administrators and residents.
The situation now becomes even more alarming on the Gardesana, for several reasons: starting with the delays caused by recent rains on work already planned and contracted to secure the multiple points of the highway.
Interventions and obstacles
The rockfall cleanup operation Anas will continue today. However, it will take another four or five days to complete, provided the weather remains favorable because – if not – operations could become more complicated and necessarily extended.
Only when this preventive work is finished will they be able to proceed with cleaning the road to allow at least alternating traffic.
Services and Civil Protection
Meanwhile, services for students traveling between Limone and Riva have already been established today. The high Garda area town relies heavily on the city of Trento for many of its needs.
The landslide on the important connection between our Province and Trentino has kept busy the personnel of Anas, the Carabinieri (Salò and Riva), the Stradale Police, the Garda Volunteers, the Civil Protection, the Fire Brigade of Salò and Riva, as well as the Limone Urban Police and other volunteers.
Likewise, the Municipality of the high Garda area remained open all night, as did Gargnano and other towns, amid concerns over a potential overflow of Lake Garda waters.
