Colà Nursery Renovation Enhances Safety, Functionality and Expansion

The kindergarten in Colà is now more functional and safer. Renovation works on the building housing the parish nursery, carried out with the contribution of the Municipal Administration, addressed multiple issues.

The structure, located in the center of the town at the intersection for Castelnuovo and Pacengo, underwent a radical intervention that not only ensures the safety of the building from both a structural and fire prevention perspective but also resolved a series of problems related to the healthiness of the work environment and the functionality of electrical and hygienic sanitary systems.

Comment on the renovation

“Proposals were accepted,” states Carmen Richelli, President of the Nursery’s Board of Directors, “which were proposed in time to modify the internal spaces and to ensure the school is as functional as possible.”

We especially thank the Municipal Administration for their great sensitivity towards the parish nursery, which holds significant social value for Colà as the first social gathering place, not only for children but for the community as a whole.”

Expansion and structural improvements

The expansion of the school was achieved by reclaiming the upper floor and reinforcing the wooden floor slab, creating a new rest area for children, thereby increasing from two to three classes by modifying the internal spaces.

Construction works were completed with the replacement of the flooring with porcelain stoneware and the complete cladding of the kitchen walls, along with the removal of steps replaced by ramps.

Fire safety interventions and systems

Regarding fire safety upgrades, the areas at risk (kitchen, cellar, attics) were compartmentalized with the installation of new doors, and the wooden structures of the ceiling were protected with a suspended ceiling made of drywall. The safety exits on the ground floor and first floor were increased.

The electrical system, hygienic-sanitary system, and heating system, divided into zones, have been completely overhauled.
