Lombardy Leads Italy in Nightclub Numbers and Revenue Growth

THE VENUES There are over 600 nightclubs in Lombardy: many are registered with the Union of Dance Venue Managers, which also includes ballrooms and night clubs.

THE RECORD Lombardy is the Italian region with the most nightclubs, followed by Emilia Romagna. The annual turnover is approximately 600 billion euros, almost 30% of the Italian total (2 trillion euros).

The Areas

Milano is the province with the highest number of nightclubs (around 200). There is a high concentration around the Lake Garda, in Brescia Province. Bergamo is another well-equipped province (about 50 venues). Mantova (10 nightclubs) and particularly Lecco are the provinces with the fewest options.

The Nightclubs

Based on the type of music offered, three main categories of nightclubs can be distinguished: about 30% offer only disco music (techno, progressive) which attracts young people under 25; 35% specialize in revival, rock, Latin music; another 35% alternate between the two types of music.
