Montichiari Hosts 15th National Painting Award and Cultural Conference

Starting tomorrow morning, with a conference organized at the Cinema-teatro Gloria of Montichiari, the events marking the 15th edition of the National Painting Award dedicated to Count Giovanni Treccani Degli Alfieri, a native of Montichiari and founder of the Treccani Encyclopedia.

Conference and Cultural Events

At 10:30 AM, the conference will begin, primarily aimed at high school students, titled: Count Treccani degli Alfieri and his Encyclopedia, with Professor Costante Belletti as the speaker.

The theme, mainly cultural and historical, is part of a series of Montichiari Cultural Notebooks that the Municipal Administration aims to launch from this month, with at least an annual frequency to remember the pioneers who shaped our history, confirms cultural councilor Elena Zanola.

Biography of Costante Belletti

Costante Belletti, 80 years old, a Montichiari native but resident in Salò for years, founded the Gardone Riviera Hotel School and has received numerous awards, certificates, diplomas, and prizes during his career as a teacher and principal, including the honor of Commander of the Republic.

Among the nicknames attributed to him is Treccani, because he not only knew Count Giovanni and received a gift and a letter from him, but also because, like an encyclopedia, he knows everything about everyone and has a deep understanding of the work of the great Montichiari patron.

Award Ceremony and Art Exhibition

On Sunday morning, at 11:00 AM, in the town hall council chamber, the National Painting Award ceremony will take place, which this year saw extraordinary artistic participation, with 135 painters.

After the awards, the exhibition of selected works by the jury will be inaugurated, and they will remain on display for a month (from December 17 to January 14, 2001) at the premises on Via Mazzoldi, formerly the headquarters of the Credit Cooperative (Bcc del Garda), which is the main sponsor of the event.
