Community-Driven Handcrafted Nativity Scene Unveiled in Pacengo

The desire to gather in Pacengo and to do something for others and for their community was the driving force behind the idea of creating a fully handcrafted Nativity scene.

Between saying and doing, there was just a moment, better yet, a flash. The first to start were the women, followed by girls and boys, and finally the men.

This is a group of parents and friends from the town, who know each other very well and are part of the “oratorio,” that is, the group that in the post-war years used to meet in the rectory or near the church and parish offices.

The group and the creation process

Nowadays, times have changed a bit, but the desire to gather has never diminished: as a result, they met together and got to work with fabrics, straw, burlap sacks, and various antiques to create a beautiful Nativity scene.

This project engaged the entire group for over fifteen days and allowed everyone to strengthen their friendship and their desire to be together even more.

Collaborations and placement

They also received help from the Alpini, who contributed their efforts to build the stable, the manger, and the placement of the farmers’ tools, all of which are original.

Now, thanks to the intervention of Assessor Fabio Marinoni, the Nativity has been installed in the courtyard of the former elementary school, in via Croce Papale, at the corner of the main road, in a prominent position. (s.b.)
