Sacred Music Concert Celebrates Restoration at San Giovanni Battista

A concert of sacred music and choral singing to celebrate the completion of the restoration work on the altarpiece, a painting by Cignaroli. The event will be held this evening starting at 8:30 PM at the basilica of San Giovanni Battista di Lonato.

Program and Participants

The program features the work «Giovanni il profeta» (John the Prophet). It is a musical oratorio composed and orchestrated by maestro Marco Frisina for narrating voice, soloists, double choir, and orchestra. It will be performed by the «Giovani Strumentisti Bresciani» orchestra and the voices of the polyphonic choir «La Rocchetta» and «Coro Città di Palazzolo sull’Oglio». Conductor: Giuseppe Orizio Di Francesco.

Purpose and Significance of the Oratorio

The aim of the musical oratorio is to guide the listener through the life and martyrdom of John the Baptist, illustrating a path toward conversion that culminates in the final singing of Hallelujah.

The author, Marco Frisina, has long engaged in composition, both in liturgical music and in chamber symphonic works. Recently, he composed the soundtrack for the biblical television film.

Profile of the Composer

He is the rector of Basilica di Santa Maria in Monte Santo, where the «Messa degli Artisti» (Artists’ Mass) takes place. His artistic production is extensive; he frequently appears on the podium as a conductor of prestigious choral and instrumental ensembles, conducting concerts broadcast worldwide, featuring original musical works.
